Smörgåsbord

So much to catch up on after a busy week! I’ve made some good progress on the sites I’m working on, and also went to a few good events.

Websites

I’m slowly but surely pushing updates on one of the sites I’m working on into production. I’m really liking how it’s turning out. Of course, inevitably, things keep coming up that I think I’ve already figured out, and it turns out I haven’t. Right now it’s figuring out how to shift my page grid around and use the template structure I’ve already established. I think the solution will be adjusting the template structure, but want to make sure I think it all the way through before implementing anything.

On the other website I’m still waiting on content that needs to go in but have started working on the skeleton using lorem so it’s coming along.

Events

2 days ago I went to a really cool meetup where they were doing 2-minute lightning tech talks. There were 22 speakers and the topics were really varied, ranging from cryptocurrency to CSS to open source to career stories, and so so many more. It was great and I learned some interesting things! There was also some really, really good food 😍. Note to all meetup hosts: food other than pizza is appreciated!!

Yesterday I went to an all-day workshop about how to tell stories in writing or coding or speaking. I really enjoyed it—I met lots of interesting people and sadly, didn’t have enough time to talk to most of the people I met! They had so many interesting stories, and the workshop was set up that I actually got to hear them, albeit not long enough. We also had a look at contributing to open source which was helpful to walk through. It was a looong day but worthwhile!

Other Stuff

I’ve been working a running program and hit a 5k pb today! I took over a minute off…nice to see the program is working!

Up Next

I want to finish up the first site by the end of this week (may be tricky with a few events planned) so that I can focus on the other one exclusively over the next couple of weeks.
